I've been meaning to write this review for a while because honestly, our experience at The Golden Fork was something that deserves a proper write-up. Let me start from the beginning.
We made a reservation for a Saturday evening, and when we arrived, the hostess was lovely—very welcoming and got us seated right away. No wait, which was nice. The ambiance is cozy but not cramped; dim lighting, candles on the tables, soft jazz playing. It felt like the kind of place where you're supposed to take your time.
Now, the food. I ordered the braised short rib, and my wife had the pan-seared salmon. Let me tell you, that short rib was incredible. It fell apart with a fork, the sauce was rich without being overpowering, and it came with these little roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables that were cooked to perfection—still had a bit of bite, not mushy at all. My wife's salmon was perfectly crisp on the outside and flaky inside. She said it was one of the best salmon dishes she's had in years. We also split a Caesar salad to start, which was solid, classic preparation. Nothing revolutionary, but sometimes you don't need that.
The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server checked in at the right moments, refilled water without us having to ask, and when we couldn't decide between two desserts, she actually brought us both to share, which we really appreciated. We had the chocolate lava cake and the crème brûlée. Both excellent.
My only small gripe—and I mean small—is that the bread basket came out a little late, after we'd already started on our appetizer. But it was warm and fresh when it did arrive, with good butter, so it's hard to complain too much. Also, the wine list is a bit pricey, but the options are interesting and the sommelier was helpful in guiding us to something we'd like.
Overall, we had a wonderful evening. Great food, great service, and we left feeling full and happy. Would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice dinner spot. Five stars from us.
